Lightning Season Ends With Game Seven Loss To Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 in game seven of the first round playoff series. With the loss, the Lightning have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Nick Suzuki got the scoring started with a goal for Montreal in the first period. In the second period, Dominic James scored on the power play to tie the game 1-1. Alex Newhook scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal at the 11:07 mark of the third period to give the Canadiens a 2-1 lead, which would prove to be the final score.

Montreal managed only nine shots on net in this game, and Andrei Vasilevskiy saved seven of them. The Lightning, on the other hand, got 29 shots on net, but Canadiens goalie Jakub Dobes made 28 saves to get the win and send the Canadiens to the second round.

The Lightning now look ahead to the offseason after having been eliminated from the first round of the playoffs for the fourth straight season, while the Canadiens will play the Buffalo Sabres in a second round Stanley Cup Playoff series which begins on Wednesday night.
