Bruins Beat Lightning, Hand Tampa Bay 4th Straight Loss

The Boston Bruins (56-11-5) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (42-26-6) 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in Boston. For the Lightning, it was their fourth straight loss, having lost the first three games on a four-game road trip.

For the Bruins, their historic season has led to them clinching the Atlantic Division as they now have earned 117 points. It is the first time the Bruins have won the Atlantic Division since the 2019-2020 season.

Patrice Bergeron scored on the power play at the 6:46 mark of the first period, before Victor Hedman scored shorthanded to tie the game 1-1 just under three minutes later. Garnet Hathaway scored what would prove to be the game winner at the 17:32 mark of the second period as the Bruins were able to earn a 2-1 win.

Linus Ullmark went 26-for-27 in net to earn the win for the Bruins. Andrei Vasilevskiy saved 32 of the 34 shots he faced in net in the losing effort for Tampa Bay.

The Lightning will look to salvage the final game of their four-game road trip on Tuesday evening in Carolina. Puck drop between the Lightning and Hurricanes is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Tuesday night.
