Astros Take Weekend Series From Blue Jays

The Houston Astros (104-55) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (86-73) 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in Houston to win the three game series. The loss ensures the Rays will not be able to win the top Wild Card spot, meaning they will begin their postseason run on the road.

Jeremy Pena hit a two-run homer in the first inning to give Houston an early lead. The Rays got one back in the second, but Jeremy Pena added some insurance in the seventh inning to lead the Astros to a 3-1 win.

Corey Kluber (10-10, 4.34) allowed two earned runs in five innings that saw him allow six hits while striking out four and walking one.

The Rays now go on the road for the final three games of the season when they go to Boston on Monday night. First pitch Monday is scheduled for 7:10 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 6:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
