A Georgia woman's vehicle is in the bottom of a river thanks to an uninvited eight-legged passenger. The unidentified woman was backing her Kia van down a boat ramp to place her kayak in the Etowah River when a spider jumped on her leg.

The spider startled the woman and she lept from the driver's seat in terror. She didn't put the vehicle in park before bolting out the door and her van continued down the ramp and rolled into the river. She watched helplessly as it slowly floated away and sank to the bottom.

"She stated that it floated downstream a few feet," a Georgia State Patrol spokesman said. "And within seconds, it was totally submerged. A passerby in a boat attempted to locate the van, but without success."

Officials say that the woman's insurance company plans to hire a dive team to locate the van and pull it out of the river.
