Part of Summerlin Avenue in Orlando was closed Monday afternoon after a 20-inch water main ruptured and caused some localized street flooding.
Officials say the incident, which apparently involved one of the area's older water mains, happened at the corner of Summerlin Avenue and East Concord Street in the downtown area.
The location put the break in the area of Lake Eola's historic district.
According to officials involved in the repair effort, about 20 homes or so were affected.
So were afternoon commuters, as authorities routed traffic around the area as crews worked to make repairs.
Video and photos from the scene showed that heavy equipment was moved in to help initiate repairs, even as efforts were made to drain water out of parking lots that were turned into temporary ponds.
