A West Palm Beach man faces charges for attempting to extort money out of people through a phony "prostitution video" scheme.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says 60-year old William Milstead sent cards in the mail and text messages to men, claiming they had been caught on video at local strip clubs he claimed are known for using minors as prostitutes.
In each case, he would ask for hundreds of dollars in return for deleting the video that investigators say never existed.
Officials say Milstead asked the victims to wire the money to an account for "Kids Finders Network," a charity he claimed helped human trafficking victims. But authorities say the account only belonged to him and that he registered the fake charity with the state.
Milstead was arrested Saturday and released on $15,000 bond.
