Largo Mother Charged in Son's Death

Authorities say a Pinellas County woman made her first court appearance Wednesday, after being charged in connection with the death of her 2-year-old boy.

Officials said there was no bond for Charisse Stinson, the mother of Jordan Belleveau.

An Amber Alert had been issued for the boy earlier in the week; and after a 60-hour search, police say his body was found in a wooded area.

Investigators say Stinson had initially claimed that she and the boy had been walking Saturday night, when they were offered a ride by a man named "Antwan."

They say Stinson claimed that she had been knocked out and woke up alone in some woods.

Police say "Antwan" never existed, and was part of a story created by Stinson to hide the true cause of the boy's death.

According to an arrest affidavit, Stinson eventually admitted that she struck the boy in the face with the back of her hand, and the blow caused the back of the boy's head to strike an inside wall of their home.

The police report says that the boy's condition deteriorated over the course of that night, but that Stinson did not seek medical attention for him.

Police say Stinson was the person who left the boy where searchers later found him.

Authorities say that they do not believe anybody else was involved.

They say the investigation is ongoing.
